This Saturday, April 26th, the Borrowdale community in Harare, sponsored by Trauma Centre B’Dale, will launch a clean-up and rehabilitation initiative along Borrowdale Road to promote environmental awareness.

The campaign follows the City of Harare‘s authorization for Trauma Centre B’Dale to clean and rehabilitate a significant roadside verge and adjacent island on Borrowdale Road.

Dr. Vivek Solanki, Founder Owner And CEO of Trauma Centre B’dale and Critical Care Hospital, stated, “Our aim is to inspire other communities nationwide to undertake similar projects in their localities. This particular area borders Borrowdale Junior School. We plan a comprehensive clean-up, removing all litter, tidying sidewalks, mowing grass, and using a bulldozer to level the ground in preparation for tree planting and landscaping.”

Dr. Solanki emphasized Trauma Centre B’dale’s strong environmental commitment, adding, “This initiative allows us to enhance and beautify a part of our community for everyone’s benefit. We sincerely hope other organizations will follow suit.”

The project will unfold in stages: a clean-up on April 26th, followed by tree planting on May 2nd, and concluding with landscaping on May 24th.

This marks the centre’s first such community project, and they are appealing for volunteer participation.

“This is a Trauma Centre B’Dale project,” explained the head of the Centre. “Many staff members are volunteering and bringing friends and family to be part of this significant effort. We are using our social media to invite community volunteers through flyers.”

While Zimbabwe observes a national Clean-Up Day on the first Friday of each month, organizations and businesses, particularly in the Central Business District, are encouraged to conduct their own clean-up campaigns focused on their operational areas and surroundings.
